PCS performs analytical balance and small top loading scale calibration ranging from 1mg to 10kg with ASTM Class 1 weights in accordance with ASTM E898-88. Our thorough calibration procedure first begins with “as found” linearity measurements which are recorded so that the end user can identify if there were any out of tolerance issues that might have affected the quality of their product produced prior to calibration. Once the as found conditions are recorded and communicated to the customer, our technicians will proceed with cleaning, re-leveling, and re-calibrating the balance or scale. The final step includes measuring and recording “as left” linearity, pre-load linearity, corner load and repeatability conditions which will ultimately be reported on the long form calibration certificate. Calibration of large bench top scales and floor scales up to 10,000 lbs is achieved using ASTM Class 6 and 7 weights and a very similar, yet less intensive calibration procedure. Like analytical balance calibration, “as found” conditions are measured, recorded and communicated to the customer before re-calibration is performed. Finally, “as left” linearity and corner load readings are taken and recorded before the final long form calibration certificate is completed. Please remember that balances and scales should always be calibrated on-site. Many factors contribute to loss of accuracy during shipment and set-up at a location other than where the instrument was originally calibrated.
Balances and scales are used in all industries and play a vital role in the packaging of contents, measuring ingredients or dosages, quantity counts and more. Safety, quality and cost saving efforts are compromised when these instruments are not maintained. Regular calibration performed by a trained technician is the only way to ensure reliable accuracy and should be part of every quality calibration program. Contact PCS today to discuss you balance or scale calibration needs!
Force gauges or push-pull gauges are key components in strength and durability testing. These tests define the quality and safety of a product and should only be performed with gauges that are calibrated regularly by a trained technician.
PCS calibrates force gauges using a custom made stand designed to fit all models and a range of hanging weights. The stand is designed to allow both tension and compression to be tested, when applicable. Depending on the range of the force gauge, weights from 10g to 220lbs would be selected to perform calibration.
All calibrations are traceable to the SI through NIST, (National Institute of Standard and Technology) and include “long form” calibration certificates with as-found/as-left data. ISO/IEC-17025 accredited calibration is available upon request. We are proud to offer a web based calibration interface, “e-certificates” that gives you access to electronic copies of your calibration certificates which can be viewed and printed at your convenience. Standard turnaround time is 48 hours.
